The Perfect Man for the Job

The Perfect Man for the Job

After a comprehensive executive search, eMoney has named Ed O’Brien as the firm’s new CEO. They could not have made a better choice. A thirty-year Fidelity veteran, O’Brien brings extensive financial and technology experience to eMoney, having served most recently as senior vice president and head of platform technology for Fidelity Institutional.

O’Brien has spent his career focused on the development of technology platforms that enable business growth for financial professionals. In 2011, he was granted a patent for the innovative technology design used to launch WealthCentral, a platform technology that supports registered investment advisors. He also launched AdvisorTech, a new business that successfully introduced a technology platform for financial advisors in Japan, South Korea, and Germany. In addition, he has served as president and board member for the Providence Society of Financial Analysts.

While O’Brien is new to eMoney, he is very familiar with the firm, so his learning curve should be minimal. He was part of the deal team at Fidelity that helped engineer the eMoney purchase. As part of his previous role at Fidelity he has collaborated with the eMoney team on the Fidelity integration. He has extensive experience collaborating with Durbin during their joint tenure at Fidelity.

Perhaps most important, O’Brien is familiar with all of eMoney’s key constituencies. He knows eMoney’s existing clients and prospects, he knows all of eMoney’s integration partners, including all of the major custodians, and through his experience at Fidelity he understands the needs of the end client too.

I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with Ed O’Brien on a number of projects over the years. He is innovative, thoughtful, and passionate about the financial services profession. In addition, he’s expressed to me on numerous occasions his belief that financial planning is crucial to the future health of the profession.

eMoney is in good hands with Ed O’Brien. I can’t think of a better qualified candidate for the job.
