Wells Fargo’s New RIA Option Unveiled at T3 Advisor Conference, TradePMR and First Clearing Present at T3 to Discuss

Today at the 2019 T3 Advisor Conference, Wells Fargo Advisors announced a new service aimed at supporting advisors who want to become fee-only Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs). The new custody service is being offered through its subsidiary First Clearing. The service is designed to provide financial advisors another option to own and grow their business and customize offerings with middle-office support from TradePMR.

TradePMR, who already works with First Clearing, is a privately-held brokerage and custodian service provider for RIAs. For more than two decades, TradePMR has worked exclusively with growth-minded RIAs, helping to provide the technology tools and support needed to transform their businesses. Today, the firm works with more than 700 RIAs across the country.

Under the new program, TradePMR will launch a dedicated service team to aid advisors making the transition. Those transitioning from Wells Fargo Advisors will have access both to TradePMR’s advisor technology (Fusion) and to the Wells Fargo Advisors desktop technology (SmartStation), contact management systems and innovations such as the Envision® planning process.

Wells Fargo Advisors’ new custody service for fee-only, independent Registered Investment Advisors is offered through its subsidiary First Clearing. First Clearing has a long history of working with nonaffiliated broker/dealers, offering operations and platform solutions along with custody and clearing services.

“This is a nice option for advisors who are already on the First Clearing platform,” said Joel Bruckenstein, host of the T3 Technology Conference for Advisors, which is happening in Denton, Texas January 29 – February 1, 2019. “For those who want to establish their own RIA and become totally independent, this might just be the easiest transition they’ll ever make. Of course, being an entrepreneur is not right for every advisor, but it’s a great business for those who want to take the leap. I am pleased that First Clearing’s John Peluso and TradePMR’s Robb Baldwin are here at the T3 conference to answer questions.”

NEW WAY FOR ADVISORS TO EVOLVE

“As we’ve watched the needs and expectations of our clients shift, we’re also keenly aware of the shifting needs of financial advisors,” said John Peluso, head of First Clearing. “We are excited to add this as an option for advisors to evolve their businesses. This model provides financial advisors the flexibility they desire as an independent business owner and their clients the ability to work with a locally owned firm.”

“Adding specific fee-only advisor services is a natural evolution for us. With the addition of the Registered Investment Advisors service and custody offering, the Wells Fargo Advisors multi-channel model is unparalleled in the industry in providing choice to financial advisors as they grow their business and evolve their careers,” Peluso said.

“For the past 20 years, TradePMR has worked exclusively with growth-oriented Registered Investment Advisors as they build their businesses utilizing our technology and white glove service,” said TradePMR founder and CEO Robb Baldwin, a former Registered Investment Advisor who established TradePMR in 1998. “We are proud to be selected by Wells Fargo Advisors as they usher in a new solution for their advisors who want to be fully independent and run their own company.”

The fee-only service and custody offering is the latest option to come from Wells Fargo Advisors. Financial advisors now have the opportunity to work as full-service employee financial advisors in Wells Fargo Advisor branches, consumer bank branches, high-net-worth hubs, and via phone-based systems; as independent financial advisors affiliated with the Wells Fargo Financial Advisors Network; or as independent, non-affiliated broker-dealers working with First Clearing; and now as fee-only Registered Investment Advisors working with First Clearing and TradePMR for custody and platform services.

“Choices are increasing everywhere based on how clients wish to do business with financial advisors,” said Peluso, “and it’s important for us to recognize and respond for the future of our business.”

PRESENT AT T3

TradePMR’s Robb Baldwin and First Clearing’s John Peluso will be attending the T3 Technology Tools for Today Conference taking place in Dallas January 29 – February 1, 2019. TradePMR will have a booth in the exhibit hall. In addition, on Thursday, January 31, from 4:45 PM – 5:15 PM, TradePMR’s Director of Business Strategy, Christine Young, will in a 30-minute presentation share her thoughts on the advantages of using a boutique technology and custodial services provider.
