The Many Faces of AI: Guest Post from Bob Veres

I don’t think the T3 pre-conference “AI University” (March 9, 2026, in New Orleans) is getting the attention it deserves.

If you’re not familiar with T3 (March 9-12 in New Orleans), well, it’s the tech expo for the financial planning/financial services profession.  All the tech solutions you know about, and all of the new ones you haven’t seen yet, are there in the exhibit hall, and the sessions are opportunities to see new features of existing solutions, or new solutions altogether, demo-ed and explained.

I write about it every year; the most recent write-up was titled: “The AI Coming-Out Party,” which I’ll share if you’re interested. Just visit https://bobveres.com/contact/ and you will find my contact information there.

But what about this new AI University event?  It’s included if you register for the T3 conference, and also offered as a standalone one-day event for those who can’t come to the full meeting.

(Advisors can register how they wish here: https://t3conferences.com/register/; click on ‘general attendee registration.’)

WHY T3’S AI UNIVERSITY IS IMPORTANT

At the moment, most advisory firms have explored exactly two use cases for the new artificial intelligence technology:

  1. Using a generative language model to help getting them started writing blogs or client messages
  2. Note-taking, summarizing meetings and (in some cases) preparing for meetings

That’s the low-hanging fruit, but it’s far from all the use cases that are being uncovered as you read this with the new AI technology.

T3 founder Joel Bruckenstein put it to me this way: The fintech world has experienced a few seminal moments: when websites were first developed (how many advisors back then saw no need for one?); the advent of hand-held devices like the iPhone and Android (I remember Joel beseeching a skeptical audience to start paying attention to these newfangled devices); and the Cloud (Joel spent a couple of years hectoring legacy software companies to move their programs off of in-office servers to the cloud).

AI, he says, is the next turning point in digital capacity, and it’s going to be everywhere in an advisor’s office.

And that’s what AI University is about: showcasing and explaining all the new use cases that are being developed, so the attending advisors can assess what other roles AI can play in their office environment.  They’ll also get hands-on demonstrations on how to use it if they want or need to.

NEW CASE STUDIES

And what exactly are these new use cases?

  • John O’Connell, CEO of The Oasis Group consulting platform, has explored the new AI-driven prospecting tools and data warehouse (data lake) technology (editor’s note: O’Connell will be doing a real-time Agentic AI demonstration at AI University on March 9th).
  • Kanishk Parashar, CEO of Powder, will show the audience how to build a basic client prospecting tool in an hour, without needing any knowledge of coding.
  • Another company you never heard of, FINNY, runs detailed information searches on prospects and clients, analyzing data points publicly available on the internet.  A matching engine scores your prospect list to determine which are ideal prospects and which are most likely to be interested in scheduling a meeting.
  • A communication workflow program co-founded by Orion founder Eric Clarke and Redtail founder Brian McLaughlin will introduce itself at T3 University.
  • Another session will demonstrate an AI add-on that can solve, with English language commands, the most difficult Excel problems.
  • Another will show how advisors can build a customized financial planning app (think: specialized analysis for specialized clients) in 30 minutes.

Other sessions are still being finalized.  But the point here is that it gives you a full day to open up your mind to what AI can do beyond the limited use cases most of us are familiar with.

“We’ve all seen a million sessions that talk about the promise of AI,” says Bruckenstein.  “This is about what specifically is available, what’s going to be available, and hands-on learning about AI.  Every session is going to be teaching you how to do something with AI, actually touching it, and understanding the different roles it can play in your practice.”

AI University is scheduled all day Monday, March 9, and the T3 conference begins the next day, March 10 and ends March 12.  Advisors can register here: https://t3conferences.com/register/, and just for talking with me, Bruckenstein suggested some discounts for Inside Information readers:

  1. $200 off the T3 conference registration fee (AI University is included) with code T3VERES200 (no expiration date)
  2. Buy-One/Get-One ticket free for the T3 conference if you are with an independent broker/dealer (IBD) or a registered investment advisor (RIA) with code T3VERESBOGO (expires 01/31/26 at 11:59pm ET)
  3. $50 off the registration if you only want to attend AI University with code T3VERESAIU50 (no expiration date)

I’ll be there; I’ll be somewhere in the front taking notes as we all get a peek at the very near future of this revolutionary tech.  It should be an interesting experience.

Best,
Bob Veres
